The other day an email landed in my mailbox from Sherwin Williams STIR (an e-newsletter for design professionals) with a subject line that caught my eye.The subject line read “Why Retro design is resonationing now”. I decided to open it and was intrigued with what I read.
According to the Sherwin Williams article there are strong and abiding ties between color and different eras, and as the pace of life accelerates, many people are gravitating toward colors, styles, and other nostalgic nods that help them “remember when.” It’s human nature to wax nostalgic for a little boost of warmth and good feelings.So, it stands to reason that, in times of upheaval or unrest, we find ourselves looking back, taking comfort and finding unexpected inspiration in bygone eras.
Hopefully with May just a few days away we will begin to see the beauty of spring unfold and inspire us to freshen up our homes with new nostalgic colors and decor. Sherwin Williams has new color palettes called Color Through The Decades. Just click on a decade and see where you will find your inspiration from the past.
